Weleda, Baby Care

I LOVE Weleda.

The Calendula baby skin care line is just what every baby (and Mama) need. Made with Organic Calendula flower extract, this skin care softens and soothes sensitive baby skin. You can find baby cream, diaper cream, face cream, lotion, oil and shampoo & body wash. The Calendula baby skin care is made to calm and nourish baby's skin. We used the shampoo & body wash, which I had in a sample size and later went out and bought the full size. It made Baby G's skin feel soft and smooth, without feeling greasy. We did not even have to use conditioner in her hair, the wash made her hair feel silky and got the tangles out! After her bath, we used the oil, which soaked in rather quickly but locked in the moisture that is so often lost after baths. Weleda also recommends that the oil can be dropped onto a tissue and used during diaper changes. We did not use it for this, instead we used the diaper cream. With the first sign of redness, I would put the diaper cream on, and by the next diaper change, no more redness!

I liked the natural-ness and organic ingredients of Weleda, especially for Baby G. They also have skin care for adults, I am hoping to check those out next!

Baby Ktan Sling/Carrier

Wow, reading the testimonials on this baby sling/carrier just reaffirms all the great things I have heard about the Baby Ktan! Our reviewer loved using the Baby Ktan carrier.

This unique sling is made from 100% natural, organic cotton, which you guessed it, means super soft! The Baby Ktan is super comfortable and ergonomically designed, resting on both shoulders with an adjustable back support strap. You can use it in 8 different positions, from birth up to 42 lbs. You can even carry twins it, hands free! How great is that? Our reviewer used it a lot for nursing, her little one loved being it and it gave her privacy. Baby Ktan even offers a matching baby hat and if you like, you can get your sling personalized. They even offer a camoflauge design, which is great for dad. It comes with an instructional DVD or you can view the video online. And don't worry about getting your sling dirty, it is machine washable and dryer safe! The only problem that our reviewer had, was that she felt is was really difficult to figure out. She said it took her forever to get it on properly, however, once she did figure it out, it was very easy to put on.

Take a look at the site. There are a ton of testimonials and they offer comparisons to other slings as well.

Green Festival

This weekend was Green Festival at Navy Pier in Chicago. There are several more in larger cities, so check out the website. Green Festival is a "forum to explore and build sustainable solutions for our communities and the environment." This festival is all about education. You will find environmental speakers, eco-fashion, non-profit groups and green companies. There is an entire section on the green baby, called the green kids zone. I found this event to be really helpful in finding ways to live a better, healthier life. Not to mention all the awesome samples being handed out and all the yummy organic food to taste. If you are raising a baby, or even if you're not, this is the fest for you. One great product that I sampled is a stain eraser. You can find it at http://www.naturallycleanlife.com It is all natural, non toxic and biodegradable. I actually used it on my carpet to remove some sort of unidentifiable stain. It worked great, and I don't have to worry about my pets or my baby getting the chemicals on their paws or hands! I have also been corresponding with Dori, founder of the first midwest organic baby food company Maddy's Organic Meals and even though I did not get to meet her, my daughter was able to sample some her all organic baby food. I sampled it too :) Grayce and I loved it and can't wait to order some.

Bottom line, check it out and if you have a chance to attend an upcoming Green Festival, definitely go!
